Shubham Parmar, who is mainly known as Shabam, was born, and raised in a middle-class family in India. Growing up in Indian culture, there wasn’t room for the possibility of risky careers. With Indian society being very narrow minded, she must earn her place in this niche. Luckily, her family has been very supportive of her journey, and she has learned to find the beauty in the struggle.
Shabam knew she had a gift around the age of 3. She had this natural ability to sing, and she also realized young that she could write as well. This gave her the confidence to start exploring the music world and the endless of possibilities it could bring. But before coming to Los Angeles, where she now resides, she explains how the previous 6 years were the hardest years of her life.
“I was in the darkest place for 6 years. The reason behind that is I was only trying to follow my dreams but when you try to do something completely different than what society teaches you to do, suddenly everybody is against you, and you find yourself all alone. I was always taught to never lose your self-belief, even when times are rough, so I did what I was taught by my parents. I listened to my heart and kept on following my passion for music. I think those 6 years were definitely a challenge for me and my love for music made me overcome that”.
Her music is so inspiring as the messages that come across in her songs emphasizes to people to be patient, do what makes you happy, and to learn how to be humble and appreciate the things around us— the things we can control.
